Job Overview
Welcome to the cutting edge of transportation. The AV Tech ApprenticeIntern is an entry-level role designed for mechanically inclined individuals eager to break into the self-driving car industry.
In this role, you will support senior technicians in maintaining autonomous vehicle fleets through basic repairs, maintenance and shop operations. While you may have limited professional experience, this role focuses on foundational growth—expanding knowledge of the OEM portion of the vehicle as well as Autonomous technology.
What You'll Be Doing
Technical Execution & Vehicle Readiness
Shop Operations: Maintaining a clean and safe workspace, organizing specialized tools, retrieving parts or material for senior technicians.
Fleet Maintenance: Performing routine post-repair physical inspections on the fleet to ensure sensors are clean, and visually undamaged as well as ensuring no tooling or supplies were left in the vehicle.
Sensor & Hardware Installation: Assisting in the mechanical repair of LiDAR, radar units, cameras, and AV modules onto the vehicle.
Tire Servicing: Assess tire wear and longevity; execute safe mounting, demounting, and balancing procedures. Inspect and repair damaged tires using industry-approved methods.
Software: Perform AV and OEM module SW updates. Read and interpret engineering language/scripts.
Safety & Service Quality Compliance
Participate in promoting shop quality by adhering to shop safety and campaigns as well as reporting opportunities for improvement.
What You'll Need
Education & Experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn.
Technical Skills & Tooling
Basic understanding of vehicle systems (mechanical and electrical)
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
Reading and interpreting repair manuals, wiring schematics, and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs).
Work Environment & Physical Expectations
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving hardware, software, and SOPs.
Work Authorization:
Applicants must be authorized to work and reside in the United States.
Physical Requirements:
Stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
Perform repetitive motions
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Maintain coordination, focus, and endurance to handle, clean, and drive vehicles safely and efficiently in alignment with internal and partner standards across all shifts and conditions.
