Head of Infrastructure
The Mission
At Moove AV, we aren’t just moving vehicles; we’re building the backbone of the autonomous revolution. As the Head of Infrastructure, you are the architect of the physical and digital foundations that allow our autonomous fleets to thrive.
From cutting-edge EV charging hubs to high-speed vehicle-to-cloud networking, you will lead the strategic design and deployment of the environments where the future of mobility lives. This is a high-stakes, high-impact role for a visionary leader who can bridge the gap between heavy-duty physical construction and sophisticated digital ecosystems.
What You’ll Be Doing
Architecting the Future: Lead the end-to-end strategy for our physical and digital infrastructure, ensuring our depots are scalable, cost-efficient, and ready for 24/7 autonomous operations.
Expansion Leadership: Own the market-by-market roadmap. You’ll predict infrastructure needs 2–3 years out, ensuring that when our fleet arrives, the power, the pads, and the pixels are ready.
Site Acquisition & Delivery: Lead the charge from "land search" to "ribbon cutting." You’ll manage a pipeline of site acquisitions, navigate zoning and utilities, and oversee construction to ensure we deliver on time and under budget.
Energy & Innovation: Don’t just plug in—optimize. You’ll navigate energy markets, implement on-site Distributed Energy Resources (solar/storage), and lead our strategy for renewable energy procurement and RECs.
Tech Mastery: Stay at the bleeding edge of EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment), CSMS backends, and network protocols. You’ll define the uptime standards and automation opportunities that keep our fleet moving.
Building a Powerhouse Team: Mentor and lead a world-class team of engineers, technicians, and specialists, fostering a culture of proactiveness and technical excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
Planning
Formulate by-market plan to ensure adequate infrastructure supply 2-3 years ahead
Support market expansion by ensuring adequate resources and partners are in market to support site acquisition
Possess strong familiarity of AV fleet unit economics in order to evaluate commercial value of sites in the short and long term
Chart timeline for site acquisition and planning for each market
Communicate portfolio strategy and decisions to senior leadership and AV partners
Real Estate/Site Acquisition
Lead internal and external resources to build pipeline of site acquisitions to meet infrastructure supply plan for each market
Define criteria for commercial, search area, size and zoning parameters in each market
Quickly evaluate sites to pursue, drop or keep as backup
Support market GMs to build relationships with utilities and local AHJs
Own site acquisition process from start to contract signing to ensure successful handoff to delivery
Provide leadership with partners, brokers, and site selection decisions (“go/no go”)
Delivery
Guide and support planning and permitting process, being able to represent detailed technical and operational information regarding Moove operations, benefits to local communities
Lead architects to ensure site layouts adhere to requirements and support safe and efficient operations
Oversee internal and external resources in construction management to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget; drive legal and finance processes where needed
Support Ops and FM to ensure a seamless handover of infrastructure sites
Act as single point of accountability for budget and schedule of all projects in flight
Product
Mastery of all infrastructure requirements across charging, service depot and network infrastructure domains, charting roadmaps for improvement where needed; and collecting real-world feedback to hone requirements for efficiency
Stay abreast of latest charging technologies, fast charging EVSEs, CSMS backends and industry standard communication protocols
Strong familiarity of temporary and ad-hoc charging solutions; be able to choose the optimal approach given specific permitting, commercial and technical requirements; and lead implementation and operations
Define and hold partners accountable to meeting uptime targets; leading technical and commercial framework to defining appropriate service levels
Lead automation opportunities in charging and depot operations
Energy
Assess charging operations for load management opportunities and drive implementation where beneficial to Moove
Analyze opportunities to implement on-site DER including solar and storage and lead implementation where economically beneficial
Chart and own the energy procurement strategy for operations across markets, including identifying optimal utility tariffs and establishing procurement frameworks for securing renewable energy supply and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
What You’ll Need to Win
10+ Years of Experience: You’ve spent a decade building complex infrastructure, ideally in high-growth sectors like robotics, EV charging, or logistics.
Infrastructure Savvy: You have a deep understanding of site selection, utility development timelines, energy procurement, and the technical nuances of fast-charging EVSE.
Leadership Prowess: You don’t just manage; you inspire. You can translate and communicate complex technical hurdles into clear strategic wins for senior leadership, and your team.
Executive Presence: You possess the "gravitas" to command a room, whether you're presenting a $100M infrastructure roadmap to the Board, negotiating with utility CEOs, or representing Moove AV to local government officials.
Growth Mindset: You have a proven track record of scaling products and operations across new geographies at lightning speed.
Autonomy: You thrive in decentralized environments. You don’t need a manual; you write it.
The Basics: Ability to travel up to 30% and the legal right to work in the United States.
