About the Role:
Leading and managing the Central Legal team, which provides transactional support and legal advisory services in relation to transactions that cut across debt and equity financing, M&A, corporate restructuring, fintech, data privacy as well as Expansions, Marketplace & Partnerships.
What You’ll be Doing
Contribute to the development and execution of the Legal strategy, aligning it with the Company’s overall business goals and objectives
Provide strategic direction to the Company based on legal advice
Manage and provide oversight on all Central Legal Matters to ensure efficient execution and proper identification, management and mitigation of legal risk
Keep the Chief Legal Officer informed of material legal and regulatory risk issues affecting the business
Line management responsibility for all members of the Central Legal team
Manage the efficient delivery of work through team members
Liaise with and manage relationships with external counsel on Central Legal Matters including scoping work, negotiating fees and closing of files
Provide legal and regulatory advice to other departments and business units within the organisation.
Provide training to other departments on legal and regulatory compliance in relation to Central Legal Matters
Perform such other responsibilities and handle other project-based work within the scope of the Legal department’s responsibilities on an as-needed basis.
What You will need for this position
Law degree (JD) required
Must be located in PST or MST
Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience (or equivalent in the employee’s jurisdiction of qualification)
Specific skills and competencies include:
Corporate and commercial law expertise
Strong debt and equity financing experience
Experience in a senior inhouse counsel role leading and managing a team of lawyers
Experience in managing complex transactions and projects, especially those that fall within the areas covered by the Central Legal Matters
Strong stakeholder management skills, including confidence in managing senior stakeholders and ability to manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders effectively
Inhouse experience in a rapid growth, scale-up business is desirable
